Overview
P3I supports a collection of persistent
startup configuration parameters, which
take effect the next time the program starts.
Throughout this document, it may be helpful to refer to
an actual image of the configuration screen, which is provided below.
Note that this is a
clickable image.
Simply click on any area of the user interface for which immediate help is
desired.

File Types
The value specified here is used as the primary "Files of type" filter for
the Common Open dialog boxes launched by P3I's
Browse Files
button. The filter must be specified in the following format:
<wildcard-file-spec>[;<wildcard-file-spec>...]
where:
<wildcard-file-spec> :== any valid Win32 wildcard
Here is an example specification that selects only CGM and bitmap
graphics files:
*.cgm;*.bmp
Hint: Use a semicolon to separate wildcard
specifications, not a comma.
Picture Folder
This parameter specifies the initial search directory (folder) for the Common
Open dialog box launched by P3I's
Browse Files button.
The desired folder can be
entered manually or selected graphically by clicking the
Browse... button
located directly adjacent to the text entry control.
Template Folder
This parameter specifies the initial search directory (folder) for the Common
Open dialog box launched by P3I's
Browse Template button.
The desired folder can be
entered manually or selected graphically by clicking the
Browse... button
located directly adjacent to the text entry control.
Caption Options
These options specify the default settings of the following P3I parameters:
File Sorting
These radio buttons specify P3I's default
File Sorting setting.
Title Options
These options specify the default settings of the following P3I parameters:
Remember Size and Location
This checkbox specifies whether or not P3I restores its initial user interface window (aka
"main window") to the
same size and location in effect when it last exited.
Remove Slide Comments
This checkbox specifies the default setting of the P3I
Remove Slide Comments
parameter.
Note that this checkbox is only enabled (made clickable) when
P3ICLI
version 1.4 or later is installed.
Copy Source Formatting
This checkbox specifies the default setting of the P3I
Copy Source Formatting
parameter. This checkbox is only enabled (made clickable) when
P3ICLI version 1.6 or later is installed.
UTF-8 Text
This checkbox controls whether P3ICLI accepts ANSI or UTF-8 character codes
embedded in P3I caption or title strings.
- When the checkbox is ticked, P3I caption and
title text strings may contain UTF-8 characters.

When unticked, only ANSI characters are
acceptable and the vast majority of UTF-8 characters are displayed as
garbage (for lack of a better word).
This checkbox is only enabled (made clickable) when
P3ICLI version 2.9 or later is installed.
The P3ICLI reference manual provides
hints
if the checkbox is ticked and UTF-8 characters are incorrectly displayed.
Slide Size
This checkbox specifies the default setting of the P3I
Slide Size
parameter. This checkbox is only enabled (made clickable) when
P3ICLI version 2.2 or later is installed.
